UAPs / UFOs

On July 26, 2023, the House Oversight Committee’s national security subcommittee held a hearing on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), commonly known as UFOs. The hearing featured testimony from three retired military veterans: former Navy pilot Ryan Graves, former intelligence official David Grusch, and retired Navy Commander David Fravor. The witnesses shared their firsthand experiences with UAPs and called for greater government transparency on the issue. This blog post will provide an overview of the hearing and the witnesses’ testimony.

Overview of the Hearing:
The hearing was held in response to growing public interest in UAPs and concerns about national security implications. Lawmakers on both sides of the political spectrum have called for greater transparency on the issue, and some have even suggested that UAPs could be of extraterrestrial origin. The witnesses at the hearing shared their experiences with UAPs and urged the government to release more information on the topic.

Testimony from Ryan Graves:
Ryan Graves is a former Navy pilot who served for 10 years and flew F/A-18 Super Hornets. He testified that he and other pilots had observed UAPs on a regular basis during training missions off the East Coast between 2015 and 2017. Graves described the UAPs as “unidentified aerial vehicles” that were capable of accelerating and maneuvering in ways that were beyond the capabilities of any known aircraft. He also expressed concern about the potential national security implications of UAPs and called for more research on the topic.

Testimony from David Grusch:
David Grusch is a former intelligence official who worked for the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), which was established in 2007 to investigate UAPs. Grusch testified that he had been informed of an alleged program to recover crashed alien spacecraft and that he had seen evidence of “nonhuman biologics” at the crash sites. He also called for greater transparency on the issue and urged the government to release more information on UAPs.

Testimony from David Fravor:
David Fravor is a retired Navy Commander who served for 24 years and flew F/A-18 Hornets. He testified that he had encountered a UAP during a training mission off the coast of California in 2004. Fravor described the UAP as a “white Tic Tac” that was hovering above the ocean and then accelerated rapidly when he approached it. He also expressed concern about the potential national security implications of UAPs and called for more research on the topic.

The hearing on UAPs was a significant event that highlighted the growing public interest in the topic and the need for greater government transparency. The witnesses at the hearing shared their firsthand experiences with UAPs and called for more research on the topic. While the hearing did not provide any definitive answers about the nature of UAPs, it did raise important questions about national security implications and the need for more information. It remains to be seen whether the government will respond to these calls for transparency and release more information on UAPs.
