X-Men Apocalypse

*Warning: Possible Spoilers* ~

X-Men Apocalypse is a continuation(the third in a series from Fox and Marvel’s reboot of the X-Men franchise) of the X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: First Class timeline.  The movie pays homage to the amazing 80s(from the clothes, music and the birth of teen movie phenomenon) and yes the 1980 were amazing.  The movie continues to focus on Magneto(Michael Fassbender), Professor Xavier(James McAvoy), and Mystique(played by Jennifer Lawrence) relationship and they’re attitudes of being a mutant(not an enhanced) how they are treated by society. But now society as a whole(Human’s and some Mutants) are being threatened by very powerful malevolent being, Apocalypse (played by Oscar Isaac), who is bent on imposing his belief of a monolithic class system that only the strong are meant to rule if you’re able to survive.

Given what the writers were likely tasked to do and direct if not redirect the X-Men franchise a continuum of “1-upping” the threats to mutants and humans living in constant fear and war. Fassbender’s performance was excellent and provide gravitas to how serious they wanted the plot which actually is Magneto ultimate conclusion of world domination and destruction but later waned as the movie was nearing it’s end.

Seasoned X-Men comic book fans will be delighted by the numerous cameos some of X-Men fan favorite characters: Psylocke(played by Olivia Munn), Jubilee, Nightcrawler, Quicksilver and even Wolverine(cause how can any X-Men movie not include him). The movie may displease those that abhor how in general the movie studios play fast and loose with some comic book character’s powers and general story line in order to cross off that summer Blockbuster checklist/quota. Some character’s we completely one dimensional and was disappointing given how even those characters only appeared to be included to fill a checklist or fan favorite cameo quota and had very little onscreen time.  But to those uninitiated we’ll be delighted by each characters on-screen time/cameos.

In conclusion, it’s definitely worth going to see the movie if your a an X-Men fan you will see first time cameo a number of fan favorite characters, sometimes displaying their powers.  You will love how Quicksilver reprises his role of saving people with his awesome power.  The graphics department(along with the accompanying choice of music) did a great job.  Scenes with Nightcrawler are always great because his power and capabilities shows very well in an action superhero movie.  You will love how Storm, Magneto, and Jean Grey(played by Sophie turner)’s unbridled display of power that no other movie previous X-Men ever displayed, you may see some of this in the sum all the trailers Fox has officially released:
