Electric Zoo, an annual electronic music festival held in New York City, has canceled the first day of its 2023 edition due to the organizers’ inability to complete the construction of the main stage on time. Made Event, the company behind the festival, cited “supply chain disruptions” as the cause of the unexpected delays. The cancellation was announced just hours before the gates were scheduled to open at 3 PM on September 1st, 2023.
Established in 2009, Electric Zoo has become one of New York City’s largest music festivals, featuring top names in electronic music from around the world. The festival has faced challenges in the past, including overdose-related deaths in 2013 and a day cancellation due to weather in 2014. Despite these setbacks, Electric Zoo has continued to evolve and attract electronic dance music enthusiasts from across the globe.
In response to the cancellation, Electric Zoo will provide a full refund for Friday ticket holders, and those with multiple-day tickets will receive credit for one of the days. The festival is still scheduled to continue on Saturday and Sunday as planned.
